There is no doubt that women have the power to revitalize economic growth, but this power has yet to be fully optimized. The reason for this could be several factors, among them are: how difficult it can be to access capital, a lack of motivation due to wage difference between them and their male counterparts, and the challenges women face daily in their struggle to balance family and work.
Nevertheless, the number of female entrepreneurs is on the rise and their capabilities have been proven by the successful businesses they lead or manage. Factors contributing to this rise include: expanding financing alternatives, marketplace trends, recognizing female capability, and acknowledging that female support is effective and needed.
All in all, the number of female entrepreneurs and investors has gone up considerably. Some women venture capitalists have left big enterprises to start and manage their own companies. This has boosted the interest in women’s presence in family offices and wealth management.

1. Yash Mishra

She is the managing director and head of private client services at Taurus Wealth Advisors, a Singapore-based multi-family office. She has been in the financial services sector for over two decades. Before her current position, Yash served as head private clients and sales manager at Ipac Financial Planning Singapore Pte Ltd. Her career in wealth management started at BNP Paribas and Fortis in India. With an outstanding track record of success dealing with both local and international clients, she champions financial education program and currently work with INSEAD University for the same. Mishra actively participates in seminars and workshops discussing topics about financial independence, retirement planning and successful investing. She is a graduate of BITS Pilani where she obtained her Master’s degree in Management Studies.
2. Megan Tan

She is a client advisor at ThirdRock Group, a Singapore-based independent investment management company offering corporate advisory, funds management, multi-family office and wealth management services. She joined ThirdRock as a senior client management executive in 2013. Prior to that, she spent over 12 years working in the private wealth management department (Singapore) at Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs. Her roles were in investment advisory and dealt with ultrahigh net worth families and individuals in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand. Tan has a B.A. degree from National University of Singapore.
3. Nancy Curtin

She is the chief investment officer (CIO) of Close Brothers Asset Management, a London-based financing and investment management company. They offer planning, investment and multi-asset management services to business owners, professionals, retirees, consultants, high net worth individuals, family offices, trustees, charities and financial advisers. Curtin has over 20 years’ experience in wealth management. Before taking her current position in 2010, she worked at Fortune, as managing partner; Schroders, as head of global investments; and Barings, as head of emerging markets. She graduated from Princeton University with a bachelor’s degree in political science and also holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.
4. Charlotte Thorne

A founding partner of Capital Generation Partners, a London-based investment management company, Thorne’s main focus is to maintain excellent external connections by ensuring that clients and stakeholders are fully satisfied with their services. She is the chairperson of the company’s Risk Committee and also a member of Client Portfolio and Investment Committees. Before establishing Capital Generation Partners, she worked as an adviser on European and consumer policies at Financial Services Authority, in policy at The Work Foundation; a diplomat in UK embassy to European Commission, and a policy adviser at HM Treasury. She graduated from Oxford University with a degree in PPE.
5. Wendy Craft

Wendy Craft is Chief Operating Officer at Favara, LLC (SFO). Based in New York, Favara is focused on real estate, but also allocates to other sectors such as venture, pharmaceuticals and specific area in technology.
Previously, she served as general counsel and executive vice president of MFR Equity in Canada; and at Fulcrum Equities, LLC as general counsel and executive vice president. Earlier than that, Craft worked with NYC based Schneider Family as general counsel and vice president. The Schneider Family is a well known real estate family, which also collaborated with charities globally focussed on children.
Before working with family offices, she worked at Hudson Land Company, LLC as its president.
Wendy Craft studied in Kalamazoo College MI where she graduated with a BA degree. She pursued International Law at Thomas Cooley Law School. She finished her Master of Laws (LL.M.) with specialization in Taxation from Georgetown University Law School. She was given the award on Jurisprudence Prize, Conflict of Laws.
6. Maria Elena Lagomasino

She is a founder of the Institute for the Fiduciary Standard and is a renowned leader in wealth management space. Lagomasino has a B.A. degree from Manhattanville College, an M.S. from Columbia University, and an M.B.A. from Fordham University. Before establishing WE Family Offices, she served as chief executive officer of GenSpring Family Offices, as well as CEO and chairperson of JP Morgan Private Bank. Currently, she serves on the boards of Americas Society, the Coca-Cola Company and The Walt Disney Company, and she is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. She has received numerous awards for excellence and has been named in several lists of top influential women in wealth management industry.
7. Robyn Craig

Craig serves as the financial advisor of Renaissance Wealth Management at Renaissance Wealth Management, a South African-based independent wealth management and financial advisory company. Before that, she worked as an administrative assistant of Renaissance Wealth Management at the same company. She started her career as a project coordinator at Connemara. Craig holds a bachelor’s degree in entrepreneurial and small business operations and an honours in strategic management from University of Johannesburg. She also holds a postgraduate diploma in financial planning services from the University of the Free State.

Nes is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Previously, she was the CEO of Troy Management in Cape Town.
